The major news of the week is the closing of a housing project at Jane and Finch.

Social Housing, otherwise known as subsidized housing or TCHC projects is a subject fraught with controversy. Conversely, the news of “upgrading” such apartments at Jane and Finch will be met with various degrees of approval in our community.

What would Friday night be without a good ol’ shooting?

A recent gruesome murder around the Jane and Finch area saw a stabbing victim seeking help in the closed Humber River Finch hospital. ERS came to the closed hospital but they were too late – he died of his wounds shortly thereafter. Now Police is asking for the public’s help.

Between a fatal stabbing at Jane and Finch and a condo replacing the Shriners building, the news could be better.

Sadly, Jane and Sheppard sees yet another double shooting, with one in stable condition while the other victim was rushed to a trauma centre with serious injuries.

In some themed Thanksgiving news, a shooting results in no victims and native bugs invade.

We have recently reflected an echo in the press of Jamil Jivani's work at Jane and Finch. We are happy to report that it was not a fluke, but rather a part of a sustained effort.

The man discovered stabbed at Jane and Finch Tuesday night has not suffered life-threatening injuries.

A man was shot in the ankle at Jane and Finch on Thursday night.

We often hear about police killing suspects unnecessarily. That is why we need to celebrate police officers who do their job correctly and arrest an almost suicidal suspect.

The recent shooting at a Vaughan cafe was connected to organized crime and illegal gambling and is most likely connected to the shooting of innocent bystander Louise Russo.

Two shootings were reported today, on near St Lawrence, the other at Jane and Driftwood.
